The DJI Matrice 4T is built to fly hard, but a Matrice 4T fleet is only as productive as its battery rotation. This guide covers your two main charging options, what each one delivers in the field, and one compatibility catch every M4T operator should know before buying.

Option 1: the stock DJI charging hub

DJI's multi-battery charging hub for the Matrice 4 series is a solid bench solution. It charges batteries in sequence, prioritizing the most-charged battery first, and it works well overnight at the office or hangar. Its limitations show up in the field: sequential charging means your second, third, and fourth batteries wait their turn, and the hub assumes you have stable wall power nearby.

Option 2: a portable rapid charging system (PRCS)

A purpose-built field charger like the Colorado Drone Chargers DJI Matrice 4T PRCS takes the opposite approach: charge everything at once, anywhere.

  • Four batteries and two USB accessories simultaneously, not sequentially, so a full battery set is back in about 60 minutes (20% to 90%)
  • Three charging modes: top batteries off to 50%, 90%, or 100% depending on whether you are storing, staging, or flying immediately
  • Field power built in: runs on pure or modified sine wave power, including inverters and generators. CDC recommends at least 650W of continuous power per unit
  • 100% duty cycle: charge continuously, around the clock, on multi-day operations
  • Built for transport: impact-resistant, watertight, dustproof hard case, made in the USA with a lifetime warranty

The compatibility catch: Matrice 4T vs. 4TD

One detail that trips up buyers: the Matrice 4T PRCS is not compatible with Matrice 4TD (dock version) batteries. The dock variant uses a different battery system. If you run a mixed fleet of 4T aircraft and 4TD docks, the PRCS covers your 4T batteries only.

Which one should you choose?

If your Matrice 4T lives at a desk and flies occasionally, the stock hub is fine. If your aircraft works for a living, on inspections, mapping jobs, or public safety calls, simultaneous four-battery charging from a generator or vehicle inverter is the difference between flying all day and waiting half of it.
