Unitree R1 Edu Pro Humanoid Robot
The Unitree R1 Edu Pro line is the top tier of the accessible R1 humanoid family: dealer configurations built on the official R1 EDU platform with expanded compute, sensing, and dexterous-hand options for labs doing serious manipulation and embodied-AI work without G1-level budgets. Eight configurations, Pro A through Pro H, let you match compute and hands to your research pipeline.
Key Highlights
- R1 EDU platform: secondary development supported, with fully open joint and sensor interfaces
- 26 to 40 degrees of freedom with optional dexterous hand
- High-power compute in the NVIDIA Orin class, rated by Unitree at 40 to 100 TOPS
- Optional LiDAR package and EDU backpack expansion
- Binocular depth camera, multimodal speech-and-vision AI
Configurations
Pro A through Pro H differ by expansion compute, LiDAR, and whether the robot arrives with grippers or dexterous hands. Contact us for the full configuration matrix and a recommendation for your program rather than picking a letter off the dropdown.

Good to Know
For operators 18 and up. The R1 Edu Pro is designed for indoor, dry-condition use and is not waterproof or dustproof, with an operating range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F). Unitree recommends a protective frame or stand for startup and extended standing; a protective mount is not included by default, so plan your early development sessions accordingly or ask us to add one at quote time. Runtime stays around one hour per charge whatever compute and sensors you add.
Education & Institutional Purchasing
We support formal quotes and purchase orders for university procurement, including multi-unit lab pricing. Contact us for a quote or configuration guidance.
Warranty & U.S. Support
Sourced through Unitree's authorized U.S. distribution and backed by U.S.-based authorized warranty and repair service, with pre- and post-sale support from Global Drone HQ.
Explore the Unitree Lineup

Eight builds of the same robot.
R1 Edu Pro is a set of configurations, Pro A through Pro H, built on the R1 Edu platform. The body is the same 26-joint R1. What changes between them is onboard compute in the Orin class, LiDAR, and whether the robot arrives with grippers or dexterous hands. Tell us the research pipeline and we will quote the build that matches it.

Development and Sensing
- Binocular depth camera in the head, horizontal field of view up to 146°, vertical up to 124°.
- RGB 1270 x 720 at 30 Hz, depth 544 x 448 at 10 Hz.
- 8-core high-performance CPU as the base computing platform.
- 4-microphone array and speaker for voice interaction.
- Multimodal large model onboard for speech and images.
- Fully open control interfaces for joints and sensors, with support for mainstream simulation platforms.
Body, Motion and Expansion
- 26 degrees of freedom: 6 in each leg, 5 in each arm, 2 in the waist and 2 in the head.
- About 29 kg (64 lb) with the battery fitted.
- 1230 x 357 x 190 mm (48.4 x 14.1 x 7.5 in) standing.
- Low-inertia high-speed internal rotor PMSM joint motors on crossed roller and double hook ball bearings.
- Calf plus thigh 600 mm (23.6 in), forearm plus upper arm 420 mm (16.5 in).
- About 2 kg (4.4 lb) maximum torque per arm joint, which varies with arm extension.
- 26 to 40 degrees of freedom once an optional dexterous hand is fitted.
Configurations, Power and Honest Limits
- Pro A through Pro H differ by compute, LiDAR and hands. Ask us for the configuration matrix before you order.
- Quick-release smart battery, about 1 hour per charge. Added compute and sensors do not extend that figure.
- Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, with intelligent OTA updates.
- Rated 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F). Not waterproof and not dustproof, so this is an indoor, dry-conditions machine.
- Unitree recommends the support stand during startup and extended standing while operators build experience.
- 12-month Unitree warranty period on the R1 Edu tier, serviced in the US through Toborlife.

FAQs
Is the R1 Edu Pro authorized for use in the US?
Yes. The R1 family is covered by Unitree's US equipment authorization under grantee YuShu Technology Co., Ltd., FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU010, verifiable at apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas. FCC equipment authorization is separate from NDAA procurement eligibility, so if you are buying under a federal procurement rule, check that with us first.
How long does it run on a charge?
About one hour on the quick-release smart battery, and that does not change when you add compute or sensors. A lab running all day should order spare packs per robot.
How is the Edu Pro different from the Edu Smart?
Both are R1 Edu with full secondary development. The Edu Smart is a single specified build around the high-power Orin-class module. The Edu Pro is eight configurations, Pro A through Pro H, that add hands, LiDAR and further expansion choices.
Which configuration should I buy?
It depends on whether you need dexterous hands, LiDAR or the higher compute tier. We will go through the matrix with you rather than let you pick a letter off a dropdown, because the differences are not obvious from the names.
How much can the arms carry?
Unitree rates the arm joints at about 2 kg (4.4 lb) of maximum torque, and the usable arm load varies considerably with how far the arm is extended. Treat the R1 as a manipulation research platform, not a load carrier.
Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes. We work with universities, districts and public agencies regularly and accept purchase orders and tax-exempt purchasing. Tell us what your procurement office needs and we will format the quote to match.
