Unitree A2 Quadruped Robot
The Unitree A2 (Stellar Explorer) is the industrial-grade middle of the Unitree quadruped lineup, and its spec sheet earns the word industrial: IP56 ingress protection, a -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F) operating range, more than 5 hours and 20 km (12.4 mi) of unloaded endurance on hot-swappable dual batteries, and a 100 kg (220 lb) standing load. Where a Go2 is a capable dry-conditions platform, the A2 is the working patrol-and-inspection robot that runs real routes in real weather.
Key Highlights
- IP56-rated (dust-protected, high-pressure water jets). On the A2 Pro, Unitree rates core components to IP67
- Endurance: over 5 h and about 20 km (12.4 mi) unloaded. Over 3 h and about 12.5 km (7.8 mi) carrying 25 kg (55 lb)
- Dual-slot hot-swappable batteries: 9,000 mAh (453.6 Wh) each, 18,000 mAh (907.2 Wh) combined
- Industrial-grade LiDAR plus HD camera and front light. The A2 Pro adds a second LiDAR, front and rear
- Intel Core i7 development computer standard, with secondary development supported
- Handles 45° slopes and steps up to 30 cm (11.8 in) at speeds up to 3.7 m/s (8.3 mph)

Built For
- Industrial patrol and inspection routes in real weather
- Public safety reconnaissance with heavier payloads
- Energy, utility, and infrastructure site monitoring
Good to Know
Built for professional deployment, not consumer use. The A2 is IP56-rated (dust-protected and sealed against high-pressure water jets) and carries a -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F) operating range, running over 5 hours and roughly 20 km (12.4 mi) on dual hot-swap batteries. It is weatherized for outdoor routes but it is not rated for submersion.

Sizing the right platform for your site? Compare across the full Unitree collection. The Go2 Edu is the research platform on the lighter 15 kg (33 lb) chassis, and the Go2 Pro is the entry point. Both are dry-conditions machines with no ingress rating, so if the route involves rain, dust or cold, the A2 is the correct machine.

An industrial quadruped that actually goes outside.
IP56, and it runs from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F).
Over 5 hours and about 20 km (12.4 mi) on one pair of batteries.
Quarry walls, scree and stairs.
Twelve joint motors on industrial crossed roller bearings put about 180 N·m (133 lb-ft) of peak torque into every hip, thigh and knee. The A2 walks slopes of about 45°, steps up to 30 cm (11.8 in) and climbs obstacles of roughly 0.5 to 1 m (1.6 to 3.3 ft), at 0 to 3.7 m/s (0 to 8.3 mph) with a ceiling near 5 m/s (11.2 mph).
It maps the ground while it is moving.
The A2 ships with an industrial-grade LiDAR, an HD camera and a front light, so it reads terrain in the dark as well as in daylight. The A2 Pro adds a second LiDAR front and rear for coverage without a blind spot, and expands to GPS, 4G and the wireless vector follow module that the standard A2 treats as options.
Built for routes, not for demos.
About 42 kg (93 lb) with batteries on twelve joint motors, IP56 rated against dust and high-pressure water jets, rated from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F), and carrying about 25 kg (55 lb) while it walks. This is the Unitree platform built for patrol, inspection and rescue work outdoors.
25 kg (55 lb) walking. 100 kg (220 lb) standing.
Continuous walking load is about 25 kg (55 lb), and Unitree notes it can reach roughly 35 kg (77 lb) in ideal conditions. Maximum static standing load is about 100 kg (220 lb). Loaded to 25 kg (55 lb) the A2 still walks more than 3 hours and about 12.5 km (7.8 mi), so a sensor package or a rescue load does not end the mission early.
Over 5 hours. About 20 km (12.4 mi).
Two 9,000 mAh (453.6 Wh) batteries run in parallel for 18,000 mAh (907.2 Wh) total, and they are hot-swappable, so you change one pack at a time without powering the robot down. Unloaded that is more than 5 hours of continuous walking and roughly 20 km (12.4 mi) of ground. Read those numbers as walking, not as standing idle.

Legs, or wheel legs.
The A2-W swaps the feet for a wheel-leg set on the same chassis, which is faster and smoother on roads, ramps and hard floors while keeping the legged gait for everything else. Unitree does not publish separate speed, payload or endurance figures for the wheel-leg configuration, so treat the A2 numbers as the baseline and talk to us before you plan a route around them.

Compare the Unitree Quadrupeds We Can Ship
The A2 is the only Unitree quadruped in our current US line-up that is weather rated and built to carry real load. The Go2 Edu and Go2 Pro sit on the same 15 kg (33 lb) chassis and are dry-conditions machines. The Go2-W, As2 and B2 are not sellable in the US right now, so they are not shown.

FAQs
Is the Unitree A2 authorized for use in the US?
Yes. The A2 family is covered by Unitree's US equipment authorization under grantee YuShu Technology Co., Ltd., FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU011, which you can verify yourself at apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas. FCC equipment authorization is separate from NDAA procurement eligibility, so if you are buying under a federal procurement rule, check that with us first rather than assuming the two go together.
How long does it run on a charge?
More than 5 hours of continuous walking and roughly 20 km (12.4 mi) unloaded, and more than 3 hours and about 12.5 km (7.8 mi) carrying 25 kg (55 lb). Two 9,000 mAh (453.6 Wh) packs run in parallel for 18,000 mAh (907.2 Wh), and because they are hot-swappable you can change one at a time and keep the mission going.
How is the A2 different from a Go2?
Weather rating and load. The A2 is IP56, rated -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F) and carries about 25 kg (55 lb) while walking on a 42 kg (93 lb) frame. A Go2 is about 15 kg (33 lb), carries roughly 8 kg (18 lb), has no ingress rating and is rated 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F). If the route involves rain, dust, cold or a real payload, the Go2 is the wrong machine and we will say so.
What is the difference between the A2, the A2 Pro and the A2-W?
The A2 Pro adds a second LiDAR for front and rear coverage, expands GPS, 4G and the wireless vector follow module from optional to included, offers a high-computing expansion dock and rates its core components to IP67. The A2-W replaces the feet with a wheel-leg set on the same chassis. Unitree does not publish separate performance figures for the wheel-leg version.
How much can it carry, and can I mount my own payload?
About 25 kg (55 lb) continuously while walking, roughly 35 kg (77 lb) in ideal conditions, and about 100 kg (220 lb) standing still. Mounting is through the snap buckle on the back and the external interfaces: RS485 x2, CAN x2, Gigabit Ethernet x2, four USB 3.0 Type-C ports and 12 V, 24 V or raw battery power out. Secondary development is supported on the Intel Core i7 that is reserved for user code.
Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes. We work with public agencies, utilities, universities and enterprise buyers and accept purchase orders and tax-exempt purchasing. A2 deployments are usually quoted with the payloads and accessories the site needs, so tell us what your procurement office requires and we will format the quote to match.
