Every Go2 Edu carries the Unitree 4D LiDAR L2, scanning 360° by 96° with almost no blind spot, and the Mid-360 and Hesai XT16 configurations add a second, 3D navigation LiDAR on the back for SLAM and mapping work. You get the raw point cloud, not just the robot's opinion of it.

Twelve aluminium alloy joint motors put real torque at every hip, thigh and knee. The Edu handles slopes to about 40° and steps around 16 cm (6.3 in), and it is the only Go2 with foot-end force sensors, so your controller knows when each foot has actually landed.

The Go2 Edu is the research member of the Go2 family: about 15 kg (33 lb) on twelve joint motors, carrying roughly 8 kg (18 lb), with a 15,000 mAh battery, foot-end force sensors and the full developer SDK that the Pro and X do not get.

The Edu is built to be built on. NVIDIA Jetson Orin compute at 40 to 100 TOPS, a RealSense D435i depth camera, a Livox Mid-360 or Hesai XT16 LiDAR and the D1 servo arm all mount to the same top deck, and the charging station docks it between runs.

Handstands, jumps and recovery from a fall run on the same twelve joints your own code will drive. With low-level control open on the Edu, the balance controller is something you can study, replace or train against rather than a black box.

Out of the box the Unitree Go app carries control, graphical programming, video and intelligent OTA updates, with built-in 4G so you are not tied to local Wi-Fi. When your team is ready, the SDK takes over: high-level and low-level interfaces, ROS 2 examples on Unitree's GitHub and a large open-source community already on the platform.

  • 15,000 mAh swappable battery giving roughly 2 to 4 hours, with a 33.6 V 9 A fast charger. Runtime drops with onboard compute, LiDAR and hard gaits, so plan a spare pack for full-day experiments.
  • Slopes to about 40°, steps around 16 cm (6.3 in), 70 x 31 x 40 cm (27.6 x 12.2 x 15.7 in) standing at about 15 kg (33 lb).
  • Rated 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F) and not waterproof or dustproof. Side rolls are prohibited with a LiDAR or dock mounted. For wet, dusty or freezing work the industrial A2 is the correct machine.

FAQs

Is the Go2 Edu authorized for use in the US?

Yes. It is covered by Unitree's US equipment authorization under grantee YuShu Technology Co., Ltd., FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU006, verifiable at apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas. FCC equipment authorization is separate from NDAA procurement eligibility, so if you are buying under a federal procurement rule, check that separately with us first.

How long does it run on a charge?

About 2 to 4 hours on the 15,000 mAh battery, roughly double the Pro and X. Onboard Jetson compute, a 3D LiDAR and aggressive gaits all pull that down, so for a full day of experiments plan on a second pack; the fast charger refills one in the background.

How is the Go2 Edu different from the Go2 X?

Same chassis, same 3.7 m/s (8.3 mph) top speed. The Edu adds the 15,000 mAh battery, foot-end force sensors, a depth camera and Jetson Orin compute on the Plus and above, and, most importantly, full secondary development with low-level control. The X only offers limited development over a cable. If you plan to write code, buy the Edu.

Which configuration should a lab buy?

Standard if the robot is a locomotion or controls platform and you bring your own sensors. Plus if you want depth perception and 100 TOPS onboard for vision work. Mid-360 or Hesai XT16 if SLAM, mapping and autonomous navigation are the point; the XT16 is the higher-resolution option. Payload is about 8 kg (18 lb) shared across everything you mount, and the D1 servo arm is available on Plus and above.

Can I use it outside in the rain?

No. The Go2 Edu is not waterproof or dustproof and is rated 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F). It is happy on gravel, grass, stairs and trails in dry conditions. For wet, dusty or freezing environments you want the industrial A2 instead, and we will tell you that rather than sell you the wrong robot.
