The DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Sensing Module is an optional LiDAR-based accessory that adds comprehensive horizontal and upward obstacle avoidance to the Matrice 4D. It detects wires or obstacles as thin as 12 mm at flight speeds up to 15 m/s — a capability standard millimeter-wave radar alone cannot reliably achieve at that resolution.
The module works in tandem with the M4D's built-in millimeter-wave radar (which handles downward sensing) to create complete omni-directional obstacle detection. The result: a mapping and inspection platform that can fly confidently in complex environments — utility corridors, construction sites, dense infrastructure — without slowing down for manual avoidance.
