DJI Zenmuse L3 Camera

$17,400.00

The DJI Zenmuse L3 is DJI’s newest professional LiDAR and RGB mapping payload designed exclusively for the DJI Matrice 400 series. Built for high-precision surveying, powerline inspection, forestry analysis, and large-scale 3D mapping, the L3 integrates a high-accuracy LiDAR scanner, dual-camera 100 MP RGB mapping system, and a stabilized 3-axis gimbal into a single, efficient payload. With centimeter-level vertical and horizontal accuracy, advanced scanning modes, and exceptional low-noise data quality, the L3 delivers the next leap in airborne geospatial data collection.

Featuring a maximum effective detection range of up to 900 m (default firmware limit) and extended ranges of up to 2000 m (with DJI-authorized unlock), the L3 supports pulse rates from 100 kHz to 2 MHz, enabling flexible density settings for corridor mapping, terrain modeling, and high-detail structural surveys. Its advanced scanning architecture, including Linear, Star-Shaped, and Non-Repetitive Scanning, ensures comprehensive coverage and reliable penetration through vegetation. The integrated 4/3 CMOS RGB camera system produces 100 MP stitched imagery, synchronizing perfectly with LiDAR data for accurate colorized point clouds and 2D/3D reconstruction workflows.

Designed for enterprise geospatial operations, the Zenmuse L3 provides real-time point-cloud preview, detailed mission quality reports, powerline and wire detection capabilities, and full compatibility with DJI Pilot 2, DJI Terra, DJI Modify, and FlightHub 2. Whether deployed for topographic mapping, utility inspection, forestry biomass analysis, mining surveys, or digital twin generation, the Zenmuse L3 offers a complete, streamlined workflow that dramatically increases efficiency while delivering survey-grade results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which drones are compatible with the DJI Zenmuse L3?

The Zenmuse L3 is only compatible with the DJI Matrice 400 and requires the Zenmuse L3 single gimbal connector. It is not compatible with the Matrice 300 RTK, Matrice 350 RTK, or earlier Matrice platforms due to its updated communication architecture and gimbal interface.

What mapping accuracy can the Zenmuse L3 achieve?

Under recommended mission conditions, the L3 achieves:

  • 3 cm vertical / 4 cm horizontal RMSE at 120 m AGL
  • 5 cm vertical / 7.5 cm horizontal RMSE at 300 m AGL
These results require RTK fix, IMU calibration, proper flight planning, and post-processing in DJI Terra with point-cloud optimization enabled.

What is the maximum LiDAR detection range of the L3?

The L3 achieves:

  • 700 m @ 10% reflectivity (350 kHz)
  • 950 m @ 10% reflectivity (100 kHz)
  • Up to 2000 m @ 80% reflectivity (100 kHz)
The default firmware caps detection at 900 m, with longer ranges available through DJI-authorized unlocking.

Does the Zenmuse L3 support multiple scanning modes?

Yes. The L3 includes:

  • Linear Scanning Mode
  • Star-Shaped Scanning Mode
  • Non-Repetitive Scanning Mode
These modes allow operators to optimize point density, coverage, and vegetation penetration for different mission types.

How many laser returns does the L3 support?

Depending on the pulse rate, the L3 supports:

  • 4, 8, or 16 returns at 100 kHz and 350 kHz
  • 4 or 8 returns at 1000 kHz
  • 4 returns at 2000 kHz
This flexibility ensures detailed ground detection—even under dense canopy.

What RGB camera system does the Zenmuse L3 use?

The L3 features a 4/3 CMOS mechanical-shutter RGB mapping camera system with a combined 100 MP stitched output and a 107° horizontal field of view created by its dual-camera configuration. This enables high-resolution orthomosaic and colorized point-cloud production.

Which software platforms are compatible with the Zenmuse L3 workflow?

The L3 integrates with the full DJI enterprise ecosystem:

  • DJI Pilot 2 → Mission execution
  • DJI Terra → LiDAR post-processing (strip alignment, classification, optimization)
  • DJI Modify → Point-cloud editing
  • DJI FlightHub 2 → Cloud-based fleet and data management
Point clouds can be exported in LAS, LAZ, PNTS, PCD, PLY, and other industry formats.
